George/Willow litter

We just got back from the University of Guelph and all six puppies from the George/Willow litter passed their CERF (eye) exam, their liver (BACII) and their BAER test for hearing. Yeah, we always feel so blessed when our puppies continue to thrive and stay healthy. It has always been our goal to ensure that all our dogs are as healthy and vital as is humanly possible and it is such a blessing when it all works out.

George and Willow Litter 4.5 to 5 weeks

The puppies had their first meal which you can see and then were moved to the kitchen area. The first part of the video was taken last Thursday and then the last bit was from yesterday. You can see how much they change in just a few days.

The puppies had their nails cut for the first time and none were fearful, although Ricky, Gracie and Merci let me know they were not impressed. Mouse found it quite interesting and wanted to investigate the little battery operated razor I use to clean between their paws. Jaden and Dunca, just seemed to say "Whatever".

Their eyes are all open and they will soon be able to hear. I love this stage!

They are all over 3/4 of a pound now, except Dunka who is going ot be very small and petite I think. I love her face. All their eyes are open now and they are beginning to try to get up on their feet. I will take more video today.

Here are the same pictures together. The one day old body shots and the one week old head shots.

Here is a better look at the puppies' faces. Mouse is going to be really cute with his black mask and I love Dunka's very feminine face. Isn't she precious! The rest all have blazes which are always very pretty on the Havanese.

They have all gained weight and are swimming all over the whelping box. They like to gather on the heating pad but Mom usually sits by the window so when they wake up and are hungry they scurry over there on their bellies at lightening speed. By next Monday, Tuesday they will probably be opening their eyes (14+ days for that) and trying to get up on their feet.

Willow is so proud of her new little ones and is making the absolutely perfect mom.

This is Ricky (Ric Rak) who weights in at 156 grams. He is an irish pied but has the Ric Rak design down his back. He has the same sig sag pattern on his upper legs.

He has the irish pied face the same as Merci and Jaden.

Dunka is 116

grams this morning. She and Gracie are very much alike and will probably be like their sire with black ticking. This means they will get darker and darker as they mature.

Jadon is 170 grams, and looks very much like Merci. He too will be exceptionally pretty if he holds his color.

Gracie 142 grams

Gracie is a black and white parti. Here face is black around the eyes and ears with a white blaze down the center just the same as Merci.

Merci female 122 grams

Merci is a brindle and white irish pied. Irish pied means she has white feet (legs), white collar, white tip on the tail and a white blaze down the face. If she holds her color she will be very, very pretty.

This is mouse from yesterday. He's already getting rounder. His weight this morning is 148 grams.

Mouse will probably turn out to be a cream rather than white but it'll be fun to watch him grow and change.

New Litter is Here

The puppies were born between 9:30 p.m. and 12 last night. Six healthy puppies, three girls and three boys. The theme will be Thankgiving except for two who are named after their coloring.

They are in birth order:

1. Mouse (all white) 4.66 oz. male

2. Merci (Irish pied female-brindle)4.23 oz

3. Gracias (Parti color female) 4.87 oz

4. Jadon (Irish pied male) 5.5 oz

5. Dunka ( parti) female 3.6 oz

6. Ric Rak (Ricky) 4.94 oz - look for the ric rak pattern on the back.

New litter due any hour now.

We had such a good time in San Mateo at the HCA national specialty. This is the Mo doing agility.

One photo is of Mojo winning the over 10 sweepstakes and the other is the over 7, placing Best of Opposite to the lovely corded dog in the photo.

What is really nice is that both competed in agility the day before

Puppy Picnic

The puppy picnic was a huge success again this year and just as Yvonne ordered, the skys were clear until 4:00.

We will report on the picnic as soon as all the pictures come in.

If you couldn' t come this year, mark your calandars for next year because it just gets better every year.

We are expecting a new litter in October!

Mom and dad will be Canadian/American Ch BG's Salix Lapponum and Canadian/American Ch Sonrisas George R US.

Havanese

Here is Mojo with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is the most wonderful dog - one of those "one in a million".

Mojo is sitting out front but just behind him are Steve and Pattie Lucas who own Desi, the Specialty winner who is Mojo's grandson. He also sired Sonrisas Tiny Thomas who was the Canadian Specialty Winner and won the over ten sweepstakes. What a guy!

We were out in San Francisco for the week.

Puppies are five weeks and first food

Having trouble loading the video - will try again tonight.

Yesterday was the first time the puppies were outside and the first time they "tried" to eat dog food. The pups found it interesting but weren't above walking right through the food bowl. We'll try it again today.

Mojo's an old pro at agility but now

Lusa has started on her way to agility fun. She was taken to class by Eleanore Hayes's granddaughter Emily who did a wonderful job at her first ever agility class.

At the end of the month both George, Lusa and, of course, Mojo will be going to class. George will be guided by Eleanore's other granddaughter, Jessica. I hope to have lots of pictures soon.
